Most drillers work the coastal sand and pull up where the rock starts. I drill through granite, and I have been doing it in these hills for over 25 years, starting on my own orchard at Pickering Brook. Tell me your suburb and I will tell you what your block is likely to do.

I case and develop every bore, then hand it over with the drill log, the water quality reading and the flow rate. You know what is in the ground before I leave the block.

Water for reticulation, the veggie patch and the tanks. On a Hills block that means gravel and clay, then rock, then finding the fracture the water runs through.

A bigger hole and a bigger pump, for the yield an orchard needs. I have drilled irrigation bores through the orchard country at Pickering Brook, Carmel and Bickley.

Down-hole hammer and air drilling. Granite and diorite east of the scarp chew through gear built for sand. My rig was built for the rock.

Straight answers
A garden bore on the Perth coastal plain runs about $5,000 to $8,000. In the Hills, expect $5,000 to $12,00, because the hole goes deeper and most of it is cut through rock. Depth, access and geology set the price. Your quote covers drilling, casing, developing the bore and the drill log.
